A KCC medical studies student who lives in Waiʻanae received a check for $ 5,000 to reward her for being vaccinated and for entering the HI GOT VACCINATED.com contest. Angela Yao received the check from Ann Teranishi, American Savings Bank, President and CEO.

“American Savings Bank is committed to doing our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 and the Delta variant in our community and avoid further strain on our healthcare system,” said Ann Teranishi, President and CEO from ASB. “We are happy to support the #HIGotVaccinated campaign and encourage everyone to get vaccinated so that we can end this pandemic nightmare.”

The $ 5,000 winner was asked why she had been vaccinated and what she planned to do with the money. Angela Yao said she plans to share the earnings with her sister and family and save some for the future. “I felt it was important to get the vaccine to help protect my younger siblings and grandparents. It’s a personal choice, and I think everyone should get the vaccine so Hawaii can get back to normal, ”said Angela Yao.

The first American Savings Bank winner of the $ 5,000 HIGotVaccinated contest was Steven Kam.

The American Savings Bank’s final winner of the $ 5,000 will be officially announced shortly.
