BANGOR – As part of its continued commitment to improving the well-being of the communities it serves, the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has awarded $ 470,000 to nonprofits based in Maine and New Hampshire; $ 247,500 will be awarded this year, while $ 222,500 will be distributed as multi-year grants. In the Foundation’s latest round of grants, 26 nonprofits dedicated to enriching the quality of life of communities in northern New England received grants.

BANGOR – As part of its continued commitment to improving the well-being of the communities it serves, the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has awarded $ 470,000 to nonprofits based in Maine and New Hampshire; $ 247,500 will be awarded this year, while $ 222,500 will be distributed as multi-year grants.

In the Foundation’s latest round of grants, 26 nonprofits dedicated to enriching the quality of life of communities in northern New England received grants. Among the services provided by these beneficiaries: education programs for children, food security, support for domestic violence and development of low-income communities.

The following region-related grant recipients are among the many examples of the essential work taking place in our region:

$ 5,500, Dirigo Reads from Bangor (statewide impact); $ 10,000, 4-H Clubs and Affiliated 4-H Organizations; $ 10,000 Maine Appalachian Trail Club, Inc. of Portland (statewide impact); and

$ 7,500 Harmony Cares Food Pantry of Harmony.

“Supporting the communities in which we live and work is more important than ever,” said Bob Montgomery-Rice, President and CEO of Bangor Savings Bank. “Through the unique work of each of these nonprofits, they contribute strength and health to move our communities forward. The commitment of our grant recipients to improving the quality of life for those who need it most, whether through the arts, the outdoors, food safety or security, is essential to take advantage of of the success of our communities in northern New England.

Grants from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation aim to make communities in Maine and New Hampshire more prosperous, liveable and vibrant.
