Gabby Petito’s grieving father posted a tribute to his slain daughter online Saturday morning, saying: “She’s already saving lives.”
“So many stories are sent to us of relationships left with proper planning for security, and people are found because of his influence,” Joseph Petito wrote in the Twitter post on Saturday morning. “We still have a lot of work to do, but it’s a start.
The first response to his post showed he was on the right track.
“Gabby has finally given me the courage to seek help out of my abusive 12 year relationship,” replied a woman called @NatillyWelshie. “She inspires so much,” the post said, ending with a heart-shaped emoji.
Massive media coverage of Petito’s disappearance and death, as well as the ongoing prosecution of her fugitive boyfriend Brian Laundrie, the only person of interest identified in the case, sparked an uproar over the lack of coverage of the other missing persons cases, especially when the victim is not white.
Joseph Petito earlier in the week share a link at the new Gabby Petito Foundation. “No one should have to find their child on their own. Wrote the devastated father.
“We are creating this foundation to provide resources and advice on how to bring their children home. We are looking to help people in situations similar to Gabby’s.
