Can’t remember when the clocks go forward or backward? Record you missed appointments and make Windows clock auto update for you.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is practiced in most of Europe, North America and parts of Asia, South America and Oceania. The process involves moving the clocks forward one hour during the warmer months, then back to standard time in the fall.

You can configure your Windows computer to automatically adjust the clock for daylight saving time. You can do this through the Settings app or the Control Panel. In this article, we will explain these two methods in detail.

1. How to set the clock for Daylight Saving Time using the Settings app

The Settings app is a hub for almost all Windows settings. You can use it to change your system date and time, update the time zone, and perform many other tasks. It also gives you the option to adjust the Windows clock to daylight saving time. Here’s how to access it.

To set the clock to daylight saving time in Windows 11:

  1. Hurry Win + I to open the Settings application.
  2. Use the left pane to access the Time & languages tongue.
  3. Click on Date and hour.
  4. Enable the toggle next to Automatically adjust for daylight saving time.

The process of setting the clock for daylight saving time on Windows 10 isn’t that different. Here are the steps you need to follow.

  1. Open the The start menu and click on the gear icon to launch the Settings app.
  2. Click it Time and language icon.
  3. Go to Date and hour tab using the left pane.
  4. Enable the toggle next to Automatically adjust for daylight saving time on the right side.

Once you have completed the steps above, Windows will automatically adjust the clock for Daylight Savings Time. Note that the toggle for Automatically adjust for daylight saving time may appear grayed out if you have enabled automatic time zone.

Additionally, if you like your date and time in a specific way, the Settings app also lets you change the date and time format on Windows.

2. How to set the clock for daylight saving time via the control panel

Although the Settings app lets you easily manage system settings, many people still prefer to use the good old Control Panel to make changes to Windows. If you fall into the latter category, here’s how you can use Control Panel to adjust the Windows clock for daylight saving time.

The following steps will work for both Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers.

  1. Hurry Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type control in the box and press Walk in. This will open the Control Panel window.
  3. Use the drop-down menu in the upper right corner to change the view type to Big Icons.
  4. Click on date and time.
  5. Click it Change time zone button.
  6. Check the box that says Automatically adjust the clock for Daylight Savings Time.
  7. Click on OKAY to save changes.

And that’s about it. Your Windows computer should now automatically adjust the clock for daylight saving time. If you wish to disable this feature at any time, follow the same steps above and uncheck the box Automatically adjust the clock for Daylight Savings Time check box.

It is important that the clock of your Windows computer is correct

Although the wrong computer time may not seem like a big deal, it is important to know that many Windows applications and services depend on your system date and time. If your Windows clock is set to the wrong time, you may have trouble signing in to online services and applications. Enabling automatic DST adjustments should help ensure that Windows has the latest and most accurate time data.

If you rely on Windows Clock to keep track of your schedule, why not customize it to your liking?
