SDNY/NYC COURT, April 23 –
At the IMF/World Bank Spring Meeting, Malawian Finance Minister Sosten Alfred Gwengwe was present. He spoke about China’s participation in his country’s economy and private sector, as did other ministers on the panel.
But it is reported that at least two Chinese companies on the World Bank’s corruption blacklist continue to win major contracts from the Malawian government: China Geo Engineering Corporation and China State Construction Engineering Corporations, with recent contacts for water and road works.
Previously, Malawi’s finance minister was arrested for reporting falsified data to the IMF and for irregularities in the privatization of the Malawi Savings Bank.
But was the use of Chinese companies on the World Bank’s fraud blacklist discussed at the meetings? Inner City Press asks. Look at this site.
