The calendar of economic events is full today
Today has a large amount of economic data. Updates on real disposable income, real consumer spending, the Markit manufacturing PMI and construction spending are on the program. In addition, the ISM manufacturing and consumer confidence indices are expected. Finally, core inflation and the latest updates of expected 5-year inflation rates will be released.
No corporate results announcement is expected today, October 1.
Looking ahead to the first full week of October as we approach such a bullish time of year for the S&P 500, investors will have plenty of economic data to digest. On Monday, a factory orders update, followed by a trade deficit report on Tuesday. ADP’s employment data is expected to be released on Wednesday, which sets the weekend up nicely as it has a heavy focus on employment data. Of course, on Thursday initial and continuing jobless claims are expected, and Friday features non-farm wages, along with an update on the unemployment rate.
It will be a relatively quiet week in the earnings confessional. Next week, reports will be presented by Conagra (CAG), Constellation Brands (STZ), Levi Strauss (LEVI) and PepsiCo (PEP).
All economic dates listed here are provisional and subject to change.
