NEWTOWN – An event born out of social distancing and coronavirus lockdown during last year’s holiday season is being offered again this year due to its popularity.

Families will once again be encouraged to travel through a winter wonderland on the Fairfield Hills campus, and to attend a holiday music show, according to a statement.

The weekend night attraction, scheduled from December 10 to 12 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., requires reservations for a half-hour time slot.

By Thursday, some of those slots for December 10 and 11 were already full.

Tickets per vehicle cost $ 20, with a charge of $ 85 for “the VIP outdoor section up to 10 people,” which includes cookies and hot chocolate.

The second annual event, which is offered by the Newtown Chamber of Commerce and the Newtown Community Center, will include a “Winter Wonderland Drive-Thru Event with the Visit of Santa Claus Himself”, where “the children will be able to drop off their letters to Santa Claus at the express mailbox at the wheel of the North Pole.

“Participants are invited to have fun decorating their own vehicles,” according to a statement.

A 16-minute musical light show will follow at Kent House, one of the relics of the old hospital campus.

To register, visit the Community Center website at https://newtowncommunitycenter.org.

The holiday event is sponsored by Newtown Medi Spa, Ingersoll Auto, Danbury Savings Bank, Newtown Savings Bank, Newtown Family Dentistry, Church Hill Village, Union Savings Bank, Dental Associates, Diversified Printing, Housatonic Valley Waldorf School, St. Rose of Lima, Black Swan, Merry Hill Child Care Center, Renia Marini Coldwell Banker Realtor and WIN-Women Involved in Newtown, according to a statement.
