STATEN ISLAND, NY – Food lovers can sample the food and drink at Staten Island’s South Shore restaurants on a wagon tour during the fourth annual ‘Taste of the Towns’, starting at next week.

The South Shore Business Improvement District (BID) and City Councilor Joe Borelli (R-Rive-Sud) are organizing the event on Sunday, August 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will allow attendees to sample food and drink from participating venues in the towns of Annadale, Eltingville and Great Kills – with cart service available to transport guests to and from each town.

“It’s one of my favorite events,” Borelli said. “I encourage people to come not only to taste the delicious food, but also to see all that the South Shore has to offer and to support our local businesses.

There will be two trolleys available nonstop to transport customers from town to town. Customers are encouraged to visit all of the sites in one city and then get on the cart to be taken to the next city. And those who wish to use their own means of public transport can do so.

The current list of participating businesses includes: Annadale Bakery, District, The Pizza Parlor, Mona Lisa, Annadale Terrace, Alfonso’s Bakery, Campania, Joyce’s Tavern, Giovanni’s Trattoria, Holiday Beverage, Richmond Republic, Juicy Lucy, Sofia’s Taqueria, Flanagan’s Tavern, Mimmo’s Restaurant, Nonna’s Pizzeria, Village Maria and Top Tomato.

“It’s a great way to get out and support local businesses during these tough times,” said Gary Fleming, President of The South Shore BID. “This year, we are also delighted to announce that each participating location will receive $ 500 from the BID to help offset the cost of additional staff and food required to participate.

In view of the difficulties related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) recently encountered by restaurants and small businesses, the South Shore IDB will provide, this year, to each location an allowance of $ 500 to offset the costs that each location could. incur.

For the most up-to-date list of restaurants and to purchase tickets for the event, visit www.SouthShoreBID.org.

Tickets cost $ 20 in advance and $ 25 on the day of the event. Ticket holders will receive a free tasting at each participating location and have access to the cart.

There will be three separate check-in locations where customers can check-in – at the Richmond County Savings Bank in Annadale, 820 Annadale Rd .; Richmond County Savings Bank in Eltingville, 4523 Amboy Rd; and Richmond County Savings Bank at Great Kills, 3879 Amboy Rd.

Upon check-in, customers will receive a map showing participating locations, as well as a booklet to use to enjoy the free tastings.

Guests will also be able to vote for their preferred participating location. The winner will receive a “Best of The BID Award”.

In 2019, the winner was Flannagan’s Tavern.
